Acknowledging and working with Interdependence
Awareness of the interdependent processes that are operating at every moment in and between living organisms helps me to dissolve my sense of separateness. Nature is not out there, I am an integral part of nature.
Each one of us, no matter what we do, whether we cause more separation and create suffering or create more conscious interconnectedness and enable healing, we are operating as part of the whole as an integral part of our ecosystem.
Without having healthy eco-systems we cant be healthy and we cant have healthy eco-systems without having healthy humans. This awareness calls for exercising a greater response-ability than plants and animals.
Once we understand that suffering is part of the greater healing process that can take us out of our separate self-awareness, what is the wise action we can take? What does holistic living look like ? How is the human organism meant to live on this planet in a more harmonious way?
What I personally can do in my life and work is help others become aware of the deep interdependence of biological processes and energy within us, around us and between each other and share practices that enable more of us to feel our life energy and liberate its flow. Stagnation in any context, whether biological, social, psychological or spiritual will naturally lead to discomfort and pain. Healing in all those contexts can happen once we become aware of some discomfort and by sensing into the subtle energies at play which will enable their flow.
With the growing epidemic of chronic diseases, the reduced funding of health services and the lack of successful medical treatments there is gradually more openness to holistic ways of healing. I facilitate Brainhealth workshops in this primary care practice where doctors and nurses work in partnership with therapists offering natural therapies.
Also the Apple Tree programme to which I am contributing for the active prevention of dementia through lifestyle, behaviour change and technology is acknowledging the connection between all aspects of a persons' life.
I am noticing a surge of awakening to the interdependence of living processes from individuals practising interpersonal mindfulness, employees expressing their creativity at work and feeling more fulfilled, managers enabling collaborative learning to members of the Climate Change movement calling for System Change to address the causes of separation and alienation.
While this awakening is happening there is also a surge of fear, violence and separation in the world which gives rise to racism and nationalism.
Ecological Intelligence means developing new sensitivities to the interdependence of phenomena including unfamiliar ones beyond what our nervous system has learned to pick up and learning what to do about it.
As more and more people try to understand what on Earth is really happening it makes it easier for more of us to open up and align our intentions with this emerging consciousness of interdependence.
If you feel called to discover, develop and refine your perceptions of interrelatedness, do get in touch via email or give me a call. Contact details are the bottom of the page.
